Privacy Policy

1. What we collect

We collect the minimum necessary to operate the service:

  • Email address — used to create and manage your account via Firebase Authentication.
  • Subscription status — whether your subscription is active, and when it renews. Stored in Firebase Firestore.
  • Payment information — collected and stored by Paddle (our payment processor). We never see or store your card details.

2. What we do NOT collect

  • Images you read with Peech — all OCR processing happens on your device.
  • Text extracted from images — never transmitted to our servers.
  • Browsing history or website visits.

3. How we use your data

Your email and subscription status are used solely to authenticate you and verify your subscription is active. We do not sell, share, or use your data for advertising.

4. Third-party services

  • Firebase (Google) — authentication and database. Subject to Google's privacy policy.
  • Paddle — payment processing and subscription management. Acts as Merchant of Record. Subject to Paddle's privacy policy.
  • Vercel — hosts this website. Subject to Vercel's privacy policy.

5. Browser extension

The Peech browser extension processes everything locally:

  • Text recognition (OCR) runs entirely on your device. Images are never uploaded.
  • Speech audio is generated by the Peech voice helper running on your own computer, or by your browser's built-in voices.
  • Your sign-in session (email and authentication tokens) and your settings (voice, speed, highlight colours) are stored in your browser's extension storage, only to keep you signed in and verify your subscription.
  • The extension does not track the pages you visit and sends no analytics.

6. Data retention

Your account data is retained while your account exists. You may request deletion at any time by emailing us. Paddle retains payment records as required by law.

7. Security

We use industry-standard practices including encrypted connections (HTTPS) and Firebase's built-in security. No system is perfectly secure; please use a strong password.

8. Your rights

You may request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal data at any time by contacting us.
